New Energy supports sustainable waste management. In Australia, waste that is generated by households and industry is processed both at source and in centralised facilities. Recyclable items are recovered either by source separation or by processing mixed waste through a Materials Recovery Facility (MRF).
The remaining waste that cannot be reused or recycled is then sent to landfills to be buried.
Currently the waste that is sent to landfill has no other beneficial reuse. However, that waste has an energy value that can be recovered. New Energy will divert this waste from landfill to be processed at our waste to energy plant.
The waste diverted from the landfill is delivered to New Energy's waste to energy plants. If required the waste is processed at our onsite MRF to recover any remaining recyclables. The residual waste is then processed by the Entech "WtGAS®" low temperature gasification plant. This releases energy trapped in the waste, allowing it to be reused. Details of this process are provided in the "Technology" section of the website.
Generating electricity in this way reduces our reliance on fossil fuels. Much of the energy produced will be renewable energy. This renewable energy does not rely on the sun shining or the wind blowing, so it can provide baseload renewable energy 24 hours per day, 7 days per week.
The electricity generated from the waste to energy plant will be fed back to homes and industry.
