New Energy presented at Australia's premier waste management conference
2 May 2012
Having been run since 1996, the Waste Avoidance & Recovery Conference and Exhibition at Coffs Harbour continues to attract leading companies and professionals in waste management from across Australia to hear inspiring keynote addresses and learn about the latest developments in the industry. Topics covered included the Clean Energy Act and waste management, waste to energy, innovation and technology, service and infrastructure procurement, food and garden organics, as well as a comprehensive coverage of waste infrastructure and services in the UK and Europe.
Miles Mason (Business Development Manager) presented a paper on “Drivers for waste to energy projects across Australia” to over 100 delegates. In summary, there are 4 major project ‘drivers’ for WtE projects in Australia:
- waste availability; tonnage and gate fee
- energy off-take; consumption rate, pattern and price
- regulatory environment; regulations regarding waste and waste to energy technologies
- social climate; industry, government and public attitudes to waste to energy
Miles also outlined the particular drivers for the Port Hedland Project. Further information on this presentation can be obtained upon request.
